§ 30.26. Duties.

It shall be the duty of the Mayor to:

(A)

Preside at all Board of Commissioners meetings, but he or she shall have the right to vote only when there are equal numbers of votes in the affirmative and in the negative;

(B)

Keep himself or herself informed as to the town's business;

(C)

Sign all ordinances and official documents authorized by the Board of Commissioners;

(D)

Make such recommendations as he or she deems necessary or expedient to Board of Commissioners;

(E)

Take such action on behalf of the town as authorized by the Board of Commissioners;

(F)

Represent the town at ceremonial functions;

(G)

Represent the town in any organization of mayors from municipalities in Carteret County; and

(H)

Fulfill all responsibilities of Mayor prescribed by the North Carolina General Statutes for cities with the Manager-Council form of government.
